WHO IS GREG LLOYD? - Classically trained pianist before moving into jazz, Greg has been based in Dublin for over two decades. His musical journey has taken him far beyond the traditional jazz circuit, including a formative period in Algiers in 2006/07, where he arranged and performed the underground chaabi music of the Casbah for the acclaimed El Gusto album and documentary film.

He subsequently toured internationally with the El Gusto Orchestra, performing at major venues and festivals including the Barbican and Berlin Jazz Festival, and working alongside Damon Albarn of Blur and Gorillaz. During this period, Greg also collaborated with producers and creative teams connected with the music of Fela Kuti, Femi Kuti and Rachid Taha, gaining a unique perspective on the meeting point between jazz, African music and contemporary sounds.

Following his debut album, Long Way Home (2012), Greg released his second album, Early Train, to rave reviews in Ireland and internationally. His music has taken him across Europe, Japan and Australia, performing in solo, trio and quartet settings and developing a distinctive sound that brings together jazz, groove, improvisation and global influences.

Greg is now preparing for a UK, Ireland and international tour, bringing Early Train to new audiences, while also preparing his third album for release in early 2027 — a live recording captured in an intimate setting in front of a small audience.

If your musical tastes stretch from Esbjörn Svensson Trio, Pat Metheny, Avishai Cohen and Tord Gustavsen to Philip Glass, Oscar Peterson and the hypnotic rhythms of North African music, Greg Lloyd offers something a little different.
